Therapy through touch has been practiced for at least 5000 years. There are now over 80 styles of massage and bodywork, practiced today- each unique and also similar in their own ways.
Western types of massage tend to be based on concepts of anatomy, pathology and physiology while eastern styles tend to be based on energy channels called meridians and unlocking the blockages within them.
I believe a continuous study of both east and west, ancient and modern is necessary for unlocking the body’s secrets.
As you can imagine, some styles or modalities of massage intertwine and share roots or even have different origins but similar practices.
I will talk about a few therapies to help you understand a bit better what mixed massage modality is based on as well as what therapists do from a historical, philosophical, practical and clinical side.
