In 1924 the Finnish runner Paavo Nurmi, the “Flying Finn”, won 5 gold medals at the Olympic Games in Paris. This included the 1.5K and 5K titles, in one day, with only a 30-minute break between events. Nurmi credited special massage treatments as one of the important components of his training program. The secret was out and nowadays receiving sports massage is a worldwide standard for any athlete.
Does improving performance with massage apply only to athletes?
Of course not. Whatever physical or cognitive activities you what to excel in, with highly customised massage sessions, body analysis, exercises and stretches your performance will improve.
For example, let's take a violin player. In order to become a great player, he studies and practices many many hours a day. As he plays and plays he feels discomfort, even pain that he ignores and powers threw just to learn that amazing piece of music he wants to perform. Without any care for his body, he will, in time (sometimes years) develope all kinds of repetitive strains in his hands, arms, back, neck and doing what he loves becomes harder and harder to do. This violinist would perform better for longer times and even learn faster with a clear head, right body mechanics, and loose muscles.
So if you want to be on top of your game, you have to take care of your body and mind. Mixed massage modality: Performance! is just a way to do it.
